What is pre-filled form?
Pre-filling makes forms faster and easier. When your respondents open a form from an invitation, some answers are already there. This saves time, reduces mistakes, and makes things smoother.
Apply pre-filled form
Here’s how to create one:
-
After setting up your invitation, click Pre-fill Form in the Invitation panel.
This will open a new page displaying the associated form.
-
On the associated form, Fill in the form with the info you want.
The fields you fill will turn yellow. You can decide if respondents can see them or if they’re read-only (no changes allowed) by crossing out or uncrossing the eye and pen icons.
-
Change these pre-filled fields’ status by crossing out or uncrossing the options:
-
Cross out Visible (eye icon): The pre-filled field is hidden from respondents.
-
Uncross Visible and cross out Read-only (pen icon): The pre-filled field visible to respondents, but they can’t change it.
-
Uncross Visible and uncross Read-only: It allows respondents to see and modify the pre-filled content.
-
-
(Optional) For global settings, at the top of the page, you can turn “read-only” and “hidden” options on or off as per your requirements.
-
Once you’ve finished creating the pre-filled form, click Save Pre-filled Form.
When your recipients open the invitation, they will see the pre-filled form fields.
Other ways to create pre-filled forms
FormCan provides three options to help you pre-fill form data before sending it to respondents:
Option | Description |
---|---|
“Pre-filled form” feature as describe above. |
|
“Initial value” feature in “Text Input” fields. | This sets default values for Text Input fields, filling them in automatically when the form loads. |
“Save for later” feature. |

Choose the pre-filling method that aligns with your needs and form design.
